Glasgow's Helping Heroes
The service was launched on Armed Forces day at the end of June. Glasgow's Helping Heroes is primarily for people leaving or who have left the services who live or relocate to Glasgow.
There is a website www.glasgowshelpingheroes.org, a helpline hosted by SSAFA Forces Help Tel: 0141 427 2804 and a one to one support service for those who need additional help.
There are 3 staff Barry Henderson, Project Manager, Dougie Orr, Peer Support Worker – both have served and Eileen Kelly, Administrator. They are currently based within Glasgow City Council but employed through SSAFA.
The one to one support on offer is designed to help people to access the support available in their area and to this end we are developing a wide partnership to ensure that the staff are fully familiar with the services in Glasgow to ensure there is no duplication.
